PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Compost Accelerator (CA) is a granular blend of bacteria and fungi designed to quickly breakdown difficult to degrade lignin and cellulose-heavy organic material. The product also contains multiple strains of the popular soil fungi Trichoderma which further enhances the quality of compost. Add some CA to your compost windrows or piles and watch as temperature skyrockets and is maintained at high levels until the composting process is completed. High temperatures are evidence of high microbial activity as rapid decomposition takes place and rich nutrients are broken down and released.

Bio-Green CA is a unique combination of mesophilic microbes and fungi which all occur naturally in soil and compost, however in much smaller numbers. Problem
Palm oil mill and plantation with high excess amounts of Empty Fruit Bunch (EFB) husks. Husks were full of lignin and cellulose, similar to coconut husks, and took 3-12 months to decompose into usable compost.

Treatment
Bio-Green Compost Accelerator (CA) was applied at a rate of 1kg per ton of EFB material. Palm Oil Mill Effluent (POME) was used to keep compost piles moist. Compost was turned regularly and sufficient moisture content and temperatures were maintained throughout the treatment.

Results
Excellent quality compost was achieved within 45 days. Carbon:Nitrogen (CN) ratio of <28 achieved in all test piles. Resulting compost was soft, moist, dark brown in color with a heavy earthy odor and rich in organic humic acid.

Compost had enhanced soil structure and nutrient and water holding capacity and was rich in beneficial microbes and fungi, increasing the commercial value of the compost and reduced the need for NPK inputs in fields where it was used.

Product transformed a major problem of excessive EFB solids from palm oil manufacturing into a valuable source of nutrient rich compost that was returned to the oil palm fields and further boosted crop yields.

Problem
Difficult to compost empty fruit bunch (EFB) material with ever-present bad odors. Time to achieve usablecompost was greater than 4-6 months.

Treatment
Product applied to compost piles. Compost piles kept moist with palm oil mill effluent (POME). Compost piles turned to keep heat in proper range.

Result
Compost was dark brown, odorless and has a breadcrumb-like texture. No bad odors present. Ready-to-use compost was achieved in 30 days, reduced from 4-6 months.
